App Obsession

The awesome Justin @Jflex interviewed me for his United By Edit stream on Instagram. I talk about my favorite apps, favorite subjects to shoot, and how Instagram has changed me. (It has.) You can see the interview on Instagram under @unitedbyedit or on the UBE tumblr site.

Jflex runs IGTees.com, where you can get Instagram-themed T-shirts and hoodies like the “I’m Blowin’ Up” design.

On Sunday, I participated in a photowalk in East Austin sponsored by makers of the mobile photo-sharing app Trover.

The contest judges led a group of photographers on a tour of funky-cool East Austin while we took pictures and uploaded them to Trover. Prizes were awarded in four categories:

1. Street art
2. Foodie finds
3. Secret gardens
4. Keep it weird

It was great fun to walk around and check out the crazy street art, yard art, and food trailers. I met a lot of really nice fellow photographers from the Austin Photographers Adventure meetup group.

I am extremely happy (and still a little stunned) to say that I won the grand prize, which is a platinum badge for SXSW. A big, BIG thank-you to the Trover folks for organizing a very fun event with cool people and generous prizes.
